The truth seeps
Beneath the coursing of my confidence
Between my actions
And the expectations I leave burning
Within the politics of daily life
The pull of my commitments
I feel the push towards the party line
Where compromise means failure

For all this I took my life and placed it on it’s side
Just for the outside chance I might be able
To free me

And now the truth is for the taking
And this quiet leaves me quite awake yet sleeping
Will I be trapped inside this ease of life
In the daily meditation
Of laziness and passiveness
Of the shedding of my burden

Still all the while I’m stuck within this temporary skin
It all comes down to that I might be able

To free me

Always I must believe
It's all left up to me... So take it

And in this the promised life
Dressed in robes of my making
Can I still conquer what I love
And still love what I have taken
But it’s clear,
We’re all the victims of our dreaming
still, when I give in to their influence
my soul is finally breathing

But I can’t bear to stay within this ordinary skin
It all comes down to that I must be able
